As with the global warming and other side effects, I too agree this one meeting holds lot of promise for the future motor industry. With the auto industry in the threshold of another major revamp from the past two years of financial turmoil, it's natural to see and hear great emphasis is put on electric vehicles.

Yeah, one day these electric and hybrid cars are going to rule the road and will emphasize for conservation and tackling climate change. The government should also come forward to encourage more investment by providing tax reliefs and other relaxation for manufacturers of such non-polluting vehicles.

I believe the governments across the continents are mulling to introduce tax breaks for electric car manufacturers and in particular, U.S. is working over time to install car charges across its cities for recharging.

The cost of electric cars is still high for a normal so I think that this conference should look about this. Another thing that they should be talking is how could they make the car run longer without the need of recharging it most of the time.

I'd agree the cost is high, then there's the cost of battery replacement at some point in time. Although I would guess most of the battery can be recycled anyway. :)

The only other thing is how much pollution is being saved (I would guess its all just coming out the power station instead of your exhaust in that case), unless we are going to use nuclear or renewable energy sources to generate electricity, certainly not burning coal or oil anyway.

I understand that you are talking about the power being generated to run those battery chargers. Right! In that case, power generation is going to be done through present day method of coal and natural gas. Nuclear and renewal energy thro solar panels are costly affairs.

I would like to imply here that pollution is almost in equal terms or even bit on higher side because of vehicles than power generation. So, electric vehicles are going to rule the world, yup the roads in the near future.

Have that space at your home for the battery charger.

Electric cars are supposed to be costly but certainly safer than the petrol and diesel run cars in the sense that inflammable items never exist in them.

But I doubt even battery can surge fire. lol. Hope manufacturers take precaution and work towards this.
